Interested in investing in Brazil, representatives of China Railway Engineering Group are in contact with the Brazilian government to present the idea of a line of atmospheric railway connecting the cities of Porto Alegre, Alvorada, Viamão, Gravataí and Cachoeirinha, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The atmospheric railway is a pneumatic propulsion means of transportation of elevated tracks.
To enable the atmospheric railway without public investment, the proposal would be for the government to grant to Trensurb, operator of the Porto Alegre metro train for about 30 years. In contrast, the company would undertake to build the structure in the five cities. The system operation would be under the responsibility of the Chinese. There is no formalization of the project yet, however, another requirement would be the expansion of the Trensurb line, with the construction of stations in Campo Bom, Parobé and Taquara.
