The São Paulo Metro authorized 14 companies and consortia to develop new studies for the implementation of a clean and renewable energy generation system to supply the Company’s lines and stations. The goal is to have more sustainable sources, reducing energy costs, which is currently the company’s second largest expense.
The project must contemplate the production of at least 120 Megawatts per month, of which 60 MW will be supplied to the Metro for use in the traction of trains and power supply for stations on lines 1-Blue, 2-Green, 3-Red and 15-Silver. The surplus may be sold in the energy market, allowing new revenues to Metrô and the commercial partner that will be selected to carry out the project.
