The vaccination against Covid-19 of professionals working in the metro, urban train and Light Rail Vehicle systems is advancing in Brazil. In recent days, professionals from Trensurb, a train operator in the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre, which work in the cities of Sapucaia do Sul, São Leopoldo, Novo Hamburgo and Porto Alegre, were vaccinated; and professionals from the superintendencies of the Companhia Brasileira de Trens Urbanos (CBTU) in Belo Horizonte, João Pessoa and Natal.

Industry professionals are receiving the vaccine with emotion. “It is an immense happiness to have been vaccinated. We, subway workers, have always been at the side of the population, transporting our heroic health professionals and other workers. We are proud to recognize that we are essential and that we honestly fulfill our responsibility to the entire population! May our determination be intensified to continue doing our part, wearing a mask, practicing social distancing and encouraging our passengers to do the same!”, says Josemar de Souza Matos, Assistant Driver at CBTU Belo Horizonte.

The teams in the metro-railway sector began receiving the first dose of the vaccine in May. The cities that are vaccinating professionals in the sector are: Porto Alegre, Canoas, Esteio, Sapucaia do Sul, São Leopoldo and Novo Hamburgo, all in the state of Rio Grande do Sul; Maceió, Salvador, Recife, João Pessoa and Natal, all in the Northeast region; Belo Horizonte, in the State of Minas Gerais; and the State of São Paulo.
