The Ministry of Cities announced the release of the funds for the expansion of the Contagem subway, in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte, in the State of Minas Gerais. The Federal Government will provide R $ 157.7 million for the expansion of Line 1 of the metro-rail system in about 2 kilometers, from the Eldorado station, with the construction of a new station in Novo Eldorado.
The municipality will have a term of five years to begin to pay the money passed by the Union. After this grace period, the remainder of the amount must be paid in 20 years. The contract is expected to be formally signed by the end of the year. The works are expected to start in the first months of 2019 and be completed in 2022.
