In an unprecedented initiative in the transport of Rio de Janeiro and in the Brazilian subways, MetrôRio, operator of the subway in the city of Rio de Janeiro, began accepting payments on credit and debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Elo and Diners Club flags) on the self-service machines.
The action, which provides convenience and security to users, eliminating the use of money and avoiding lines for ticket purchases, can be performed at any of the system’s 41 stations.
The terminals continue to accept the form of payment in cash. Users can also recharge and purchase prepaid cards on the device.
