Concession of metro lines and monorail of São Paulo has new date

The Secretaria de Transportes Metropolitanos do Estado de São Paulo has delayed the auction which will grant Line 5-Lilac of Metrô de São Paulo and Line 17-Gold of the monorail in the south of the city to the private sector. The concession auction of both lines together has been delayed for Setember 28th.

According to the note from the office, the companies requested more time for preparing the proposals. Still according to the government, the new date shall allow more companies to participate and present their proposals.

The company or consortium that wants to operate the metro line and the monorail must offer a minimum bid of R$189.6 million.

The contract’s duration is 20 years and the winners will receive part of ticket fees, which correspond to the operation of the lines and can also commercially exploit the stations.

The contract’s value is R$10.8 billion, which correspond to the ticket fee remuneration and the commercial exploit of the free areas of the stations.

The winner must invest along the period R$3 billion for modernization of the spaces and new fleet.

The auction does not include the construction of the new stations of line 5-Lilac nor the entire monorail tracks, which will be funded by the Governo do Estado de São Paulo.
