The Brazilian Ministry of Regional Development announced the release of R$ 40.8 million for improvements in passenger transport systems on tracks in Recife, capital of the state of Pernambuco, and João Pessoa, capital of the state of Paraíba, both in the Northeast region of Brazil. The systems are operated by Companhia Brasileira de Trens Urbanos (CBTU)

Recife’s Metro will receive R$ 22.8 million to build a railway bridge; improve accessibility at stations in Cabo, city in the Metropolitan Region of Recife, and change the covers of six stations.

While the João Pessoa system will have a financial reinforcement of R$ 18 million, which will be applied to the company’s information technology system; in the recovery of the permanent road and in the implementation of four deviations in the line; and in modernization works for two stations.
