The National Association of Passenger Rail Operators (ANPTrilhos) celebrates today, August 28, 8 years of its foundation. A short journey, which already consolidates great achievements and contributions to Brazilian urban mobility.
Throughout these 8 years, ANPTrilhos has been consolidating itself as a national reference in the field of urban mobility and the work developed by the entity has inspired Brazilian leaders to think differently, contributing to change old patterns and to see the city in a vision of future, where the integration of mobility and the use of clean technologies contribute not only to making travel more efficient, but also to ensuring a better quality of life for the whole population.
For a long time the metro rail sector was considered only from the point of view of the state and motivator of expenditure, either through the need for investment in expansions or the government subsidy to cover the operation. However, with a new vision, the sector has been renewing itself by developing business modeling that reduces dependence on public investment, freeing resources for sectors such as education, health and safety, while stimulating private investment and project continuity for the advancement of mobility in cities.
Considering the importance of this transportation system for the efficiency of mobility in cities, ANPTrilhos has been advocating, over these 8 years, its inclusion as a priority in Brazilian public policies. Investing in rail transport goes far beyond the transport itself. Investing in trails brings positive impacts on the environment, reducing the use of fossil fuels, air pollution and noise pollution. Investing in rails is investing in the citizen, providing a safe, fast and efficient transportation system and guaranteeing each of its users more time for leisure, study or family. Investing in rails is to increase the Brazilian GDP, since the lost time in the inefficiency of the mobility could move the Economy of the Country.
ANPTrilhos is doing its part to make cities more sustainable, to improve people’s quality of life, to secure excellence in the provision of public passenger transport services and to reduce tariffs through the expansion of railroad systems in Brazil.
