The signing of the work order for the construction of the monorail of the city of Salvador, in the state of Bahia, in northeastern Brazil, is scheduled for December. According to the Secretariat of Urban Development of Bahia (Sedur), over R$10 billion have been invested, including completed and ongoing works, in urban mobility of the state. The next step is to implement the new system, which will replace the old trains connecting the Calçada and Paripe neighborhoods.
The monorail will have a daily transport capacity of 156,000 users. The project is worth R$ 1.5 billion and will be possible through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) modality. The winning consortium was Skyrail Bahia, composed of Metrogreen and BYD.
