The Federal Government of Brazil has granted governance certification to 61 state-owned companies, which have made management advances. In all, 14 state-owned companies received top marks and among them is the Empresa de Trens Urbanos de Porto Alegre S/A (Trensurb), alongside companies such as Banco do Brasil, Petrobras, Caixa Econômica Federal, BNDES, Eletrobrás, among others.
Trensurb is the urban train operator of the Porto Alegre Metropolitan Region and is responsible for transporting over 170,000 people daily for 43.9 km tracks.
