The Government of the State of São Paulo inaugurated Line 13-Jade of Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (CPTM), which connects the city of São Paulo to the International Airport of Guarulhos at the end of March. With 12.2km of tracks and two stations, the new line will serve the population that lives, works or studies in Guarulhos and São Paulo, as well as leisure and business tourists. The forecast is that about 120 thousand users are transported per business day.
In the first month, Line 13-Jade will work in Assisted Operation, without charge, with intervals of about 30 minutes, on Saturdays and Sundays, from 10am to 3pm. The trip will take about 15 minutes and the user wishing to continue in the CPTM network will have to transfer the Engenheiro Goulart Station to Line 12-Sapphira, which goes to the Center of São Paulo.
In the second month, the operation will follow the same schedules, but will be extended to every day in the week. From the third month on, the operation will be held from 4am to midnight, in the regular service. A new service, Connect, will also be in operation, with trains from Brás Station to Aeroporto-Guarulhos Station only at peak times (from 5am to 9am and from 4pm to 8pm), without the need for a transfer at Engenheiro Goulart Station. The route will last about 35 minutes, with the train stopping at all stations for boarding and disembarkation, and the fare will be the same as the metropolitan train, which costs R$4 today.
After the fourth month, it is expected that the CPTM Airport-Express service will start operating, which will take users directly, without stopping for embarkation and disembarkation, from the Airport-Guarulhos Station to the historic Luz Station in downtown São Paulo, where there is transfer to other urban train lines and to the subway. The route will be done in about 35 minutes and the trains will depart in 4 schedules programmed in both directions. The fare is still to be defined.
