Rio de Janeiro inaugurates the second VLT line Downtown

VLT Carioca-trecho2-OGlobo-vlt-novo-trecho-curvas-500pxThe VLT concessionaire of Rio de Janeiro inaugurated the second line of the Light Rail Vehicle of the Rio de Janeiro downtown region, in Brazil. The section has around 2 kilometers of track and four new stations, connecting Saara, close to Praça da República, to Praça XV, where are the water crossings of ferryboats.

The Rio de Janeiro VLT was inaugurated on June 5, 2016 and was one of the great attractions of the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. In the first six months of operation, the system transported more than 4 million passengers between Santos Dumont Airport and the city’s Bus Station.
