The Department of Transport and Mobility of the Federal District (Semob) selected the study by the consortium Urbi Mobilidade Urbana/Companhia do Metropolitano de São Paulo – Metrô to serve as the basis for a future bidding notice for the concession of the management, operation and maintenance of the services of the Brasília Metro, system in operation in the capital of Brazil. Altogether, 11 companies or associations of companies were authorized to carry out the study, through the Expression of Interest Procedure (PMI).
A committee formed by Semob technicians will carry out, together with the winning group, the adjustments considered necessary to perfect the study. After this stage, the study will be presented at a public hearing, on a date to be defined, and contributions will be accepted. Following the process, the Court of Auditors of the DF (TCDF) will make the assessment so that the bidding notice can be released.
According to Agência Brasília, the official news portal of the government of Brasília, with the proposed improvements, it is expected to increase, over the concession period, by 70% the number of users served daily by subway services.
