The Metro of Rio de Janeiro inaugurated by the end of March the direct connection between Line 4 and Line 1 ending the need to transfer at General Osório station, in Ipanema. By that, the travel time will be shortened and the passenger who board at Jardim Oceânico, in Barra da Tijuca in the West Zone, will arrive in 30 minutes at the centre of Rio de Janeiro city. With the interconnection concluded, the arrival interval will be reduced to 4 minutes and 30 seconds at the times of larger passenger movement.
Pointed as the eighth most congested city in the world, Rio de Janeiro prepares to have for the first time a metro system, which will connect the capital end to end. If before the resident of the West Zone took around 120 minutes to get to the centre by bus, now with the end of the transfer, the journey time was reduced 75%.
