Brasília Metro security guards start using body cameras

Agents from the Operational Security Corps of the Brasília Metro, in the capital of Brazil, are using body cameras. A total of 100 cameras were acquired by the Company, which will be attached to the agents’ uniforms. In addition to the portable cameras, two data stations were also purchased, equipment that will be used by the Security Monitoring Center to download and manage captured images.

Cameras protect both employees and users of the subway system, as, through them, it is possible to quickly investigate facts, guarantee the legal security of employees’ actions and activities and produce evidence for possible civil, legal or administrative proceedings.

Body cameras will be used at the front and will be visible to all passengers. The equipment has a storage capacity of 32 GB and can record for up to 8 hours uninterruptedly. They also have night vision and a pre-recording function, which allows events that occurred before pressing the record button to be also stored.
