The National Association of Passenger Rail Operators (ANPTrilhos), a Brazilian entity that brings together subway, urban train, Light Rail Vehicle and people movers operators, is presenting and formalizing the delivery of the Government Agenda for the Rail Passenger Transport Sector 2023-2026 to representatives of the new government of Brazil. The document was released during the ANPTrilhos Mobility Forum, which brought together the country’s new leaders in May to discuss the advancement of the service network on rails.

“The 2023-2026 Government Agenda for the Rail Passenger Transport Sector has 29 proposals that could result in the improvement of the quality of the service provided to millions of citizens, consolidate legal certainty to attract new investments and provide the sustainability of business in the sector, making room for the expansion of high-capacity rail transport and its regional connections”, explains Roberta Marchesi, Executive Director of ANPTrilhos.

Of the 29 proposals, six are characterized as priorities for their importance in inducing immediate results to leverage urban mobility and the development of the structuring transport network. They are:

• publication of the National Policy on Railroad Passenger Transport;
• formulation of the National Plan for the Development of Passenger Rail Transport;
• creation of the Public Transport Regulatory Framework;
• publication of a Public Transport Financing Policy;
• construction of a Strategic Plan for Urban Mobility on Rails;
• edition of an Incentive Policy for the creation of Metropolitan Authorities.

The ANPTrilhos Sectorial Agenda was delivered to the Minister of Cities in Brazil, Jader Filho; the National Secretary for Urban Mobility of the Ministry of Cities, Denis Andia; to the Chief Executive Officer of Infra S.A., Jorge Bastos; the General Director of the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT), Rafael Vitale; and to all authorities and participants of the Mobility Forum.
