VLT Carioca completes one year in operation

The Light Rail (VLT) of the port and central region of the city of Rio de Janeiro completed one year in operation on June 5th. According to the Rio de Janeiro City Hall, the system has already made over 70,000 travels and has transported 8 million passenger. The system currently operates with two lines, 23 stops and 20 light trains.

According to the City Hall, the stops of greater movement are the ones which allow transfer to other means of transportation. Cinelândia and Carioca (metro), Candelária (bus), Santos Dumont (airport) and Rodoviária (bus) are the main points for passengers entrance and exit of Line 1, which also connects which the cruise terminal at Parada dos Navios. The VLT had an important role on the revitalization of the central region of the city.
