The English publication International Railway Journal (IRJ) announced this Wednesday (June 1st) the winners of the IRJ Women in Rail Awards 2022 and the Executive Director of the National Association of Passenger Rail Operators (ANPTrilhos), Roberta Marchesi, was elected among the leading women in the rail industry worldwide.

“Being a Brazilian woman leader of a national entity and being elected among so many outstanding women in the world is a huge satisfaction. I am proud to be able to represent women in the Brazilian metro rail sector in this worldwide recognition”, emphasizes Roberta Marchesi, who has been in charge of ANPTrilhos since the Association was founded 11 years ago.

The IRJ Women in Rail Awards 2022 aims to recognize the efforts of companies in the rail industry around the world to bridge the gender gap and improve diversity in their workforce by highlighting the work of women. “My personal desire is to be able to see other women reaching leadership positions in the industry, not just for being women, but because of their skills. Diversity of thought in top management is essential to achieve better results”, explains the Executive Director of ANPTrilhos in an interview to IRJ.

“The Board of ANPTrilhos and its Associates are proud to have Roberta leading our entity. She does an excellent job and represents the women in our sector with mastery”, emphasizes Joubert Flores, President of the ANPTrilhos Board.

In this first edition of the IRJ Women in Rail Awards 2022, 12 women were awarded, representing all continents. Among them, Brazil also stands out with the award given to the Legal Manager of the São Paulo Metro, Janaina Schoenmaker, who has worked for the company for 14 years. The São Paulo Metro is also part of the members of ANPTrilhos.
