Metrô São Paulo started excavating the first tunnel for the expansion of Line 2-Green that will reach the Penha district. The activities are carried out at the future Santa Isabel station, which will be located in the Vila Carrão region, in the East Zone of São Paulo.

The tunnel will be 24.4 meters high and 35.6 meters long to connect the well – located next to Avenida Guilherme Giorgi – with the road and boarding platforms that will be built under the bed of the avenue and will be excavated by the NATM method, which is the Austrian method of tunnel construction.

The new stretch of Line 2-Green will be 8.4 km long and have eight stations, from Vila Prudente to Penha, benefiting more than 400,000 passengers per day. When ready, Line 2 will be 23 km long and will have 22 stations from Vila Madalena to Penha.
