With the challenge of carrying out the system’s hundreds of daily trips on time and safely, the drivers of the VLT Carioca, which operates the Light Rail Vehicle lines in downtown Rio de Janeiro, have an important ally in their preparation: the simulator of operation. It is one of the main training tools both in the selection and in the daily routine of these professionals.
The device allows previous experience in a position identical to the driver’s cabin, with the reproduction of the route, including signaling, and the simulation of situations found in everyday life, such as obstructions in the road and contact with the Operational Control Center.
