On February 7, the Government of the State of São Paulo announced the receipt of the assignment contract signed between the concessionaire Move São Paulo and Acciona. In 45 days, the State will adopt the internal measures for the fulfillment of the necessary legal requirements and signature of the definitive document for the resumption of the works of Line 6-Orange subway in 2020.
The Metro Line 6-Orange will be 15.3 km long and will connect the Brasilândia region, in the north of the city of São Paulo, to the central region of the city, serving over 630 thousand passengers per day. The journey will take up to 23 minutes – currently, the average time is 1h30 by bus.
According to the São Paulo State Government, it is the first sponsored concession subway line that includes the implementation of civil works and systems, supply of rolling stock, operation, conservation, maintenance and expansion of the line. The construction of Line 6-Orange began in January 2015 and, on September 2, 2016, Move São Paulo informed the complete stoppage of civil works. The concessionaire alleged difficulties in obtaining financing.
