The Government of the State of São Paulo and the Secretariat of Metropolitan Transport (STM) scheduled a public hearing for February 27, 2020, at 3 pm, to provide access to the relevant information and an opportunity to demonstrate interest on the concession process for the private initiative to explore the 8-Diamond and 9-Emerald Lines of the Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (CPTM). The notice was published in Diário Oficial do Estado on February 11. The hearing will be held at the André Franco Montoro Auditorium, located at 184 Praça Pateo do Collegi, in downtown São Paulo. The bidding must start within four months of the public hearing.
Line 8-Diamond has a demand of approximately 480 thousand passengers per day and an estimate of registering growth in the coming years to 530 thousand passengers daily. The length of the line is 41.6 km between the Júlio Prestes Station, in the Center of São Paulo, and Amador Bueno, in the municipality of Itapevi, in the metropolitan region.
Line 9-Emerald, on the other hand, connects the city of Osasco to Grajaú, in the south end of the capital in 36 km, counting the expected extension of the line to Varginha. Current demand is close to 575 thousand passengers per business day, but it is estimated to grow to 611 thousand passengers.
