The City Hall of Sorocaba, in the countryside of the state of São Paulo, will launch until the end of March the public call for expressions of interest (in Portuguese, PMI) for the city’s Light Rail. The PMI is an instrument that allows the private initiative to elaborate the technical and economic feasibility studies for the implantation of this type of transport in the city.
The city intends to implement the VLT using the existing railroad, from Brigadier Tobias to George Oetterer. Those interested should submit a request for authorization and a Working Group of the City of Sorocaba will analyze within 15 days. The authorization will be granted by the City’s Planning Department so that the authorized parties can prepare two studies for the development of the final products: studies of redevelopment of the surroundings of the railway track and studies of passenger transport on rails. Interested parties may request authorization for both or one of the requested products.
