The Government of the State of São Paulo held a public hearing for the Intercidades Train (Express Service – TIC), the Intermetropolitan Train (TIM Service) and the operation, maintenance and works, with improved performance and service quality for Line 7-Rubi of the Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (CPTM) on August 16, on a digital platform.

The project called TIC Eixo Norte will be a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) and its modeling was carried out with the support of the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB).

The project covers a set of public passenger transport services on rails in the axis between the Metropolitan Regions of São Paulo and Campinas and its scope meets the demands of “expresso” and “parador” services, which would be:

• Express train between São Paulo – Jundiaí – Campinas, called “Expresso TIC”, a 101 km line providing for an intermediate stop in Jundiaí;
• Service with stops between Francisco Morato – Jundiaí – Campinas, called “Intermetropolitano – TIM”, stretch of 65.8 km, 9 stations and crossing 8 municipalities (Campinas, Valinhos, Vinhedo, Louveira, Jundiaí, Várzea Paulista, Campo Limpo and Francisco Morato);
• Metropolitan service with stops, Line 7-Rubi, connecting São Paulo to Francisco Morato, currently operated by CPTM, with 35.19 km, 13 stations and serving 4 municipalities in the São Paulo Metropolitan Region (São Paulo, Caieiras, Franco da Rocha and Francisco Morato).

The concession term is 30 years and the preliminary economic-financial model projects four sources of income:

• Public contribution to compose the necessary resources for mandatory investments;
• Consideration paid by the Granting Authority for the operation of Line 7-Rubi and TIM service;
• TIC tariff revenues received directly by the concessionaire; and
• Accessory revenues.

During the public hearing, information about the project was presented and contributions were received for the consolidation of the final modeling of the PPP project of TIC Eixo Norte.
