At the beginning of June, the Governor of the State of Sao Paulo announced the resumption of the expansion of Line 2-Green of the Sao Paulo Metro, which connects Vila Madalena, through Avenida Paulista, to Vila Prudente. The reactivation will be done with the immediate start of the executive projects of the stretch of 8.3 km and 8 stations, between Vila Prudente and Penha. The goal is to start the works in the first quarter of 2020, when the executive projects are approved.
The Government of the State of Sao Paulo will invest R$ 5.5 billion in the projects, expropriations and execution of the civil works of the section Vila Prudente to Penha, in the East Zone of the city of Sao Paulo. Part of this amount was already used in the expropriation of 96.5% of the 226 properties needed for the work. Sao Paulo Metro will prepare the bidding for the acquisition of 22 new trains for Line 2-Green, power supply systems, signaling and controlling, telecommunications, platform doors and auxiliary.
