São Paulo approves bill that favors the implementation of the Intercities Train

The deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the State of São Paulo unanimously approved the bill that favors the Government’s proposal to implement the Intercities Train – an express line that will connect the Capital of São Paulo to the city of Campinas, in the interior of the state.

The project promotes an adjustment to a state law and ensures that the government can take out loans of up to R$ 6.5 billion from financial institutions and finance part of the construction work on the stretch.

The public notice for the international auction for the Intercities Train concession was published in March this year. The estimated investment value of the private initiative is R$ 12.8 billion and the concession period will be 30 years. The total route will be 96 km, lasting approximately 1 hour between the capital of São Paulo and Campinas, with a single stop in the city of Jundiaí.
