CPTM signs works contract for Varginha Station of Line 9-Emerald

Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (CPTM) has signed the last contract for the expansion of Line 9-Emerald to the southern end of the central region of São Paulo. The Lot 2 contract includes Varginha station, part of the railroad, the aerial energy network and a train maneuvering yard.

The consortium Engibrás won the bid and will do the works for R$ 87 million. CPTM is awaiting authorization from the Ministry of Regional Development to begin work, since the budget for the work is from the Federal Government.

Line 9-Emerald is 32.8 kilometers long and has 18 stations. With the expansion works, Line 9-Emerald will have two more stations – Mendes-Vila Natal (already under construction) and Varginha – and another 4.5 kilometers in tracks.
