The Brazilian Ministry of Regional Development published the public consultation on the draft bill of the new Legal Framework for Collective Public Transport, which aims to restructure the model for providing collective public transport services in the country.
“ANPTrilhos actively participated in the construction of the text, which was widely discussed in the meetings of the Consultative Forum on Urban Mobility, together with the main entities of the sector and reinforces the need for regulatory updating for the advancement of transport. The text of the decree is a landmark for the sector and will contribute to the development of collective public transport”, emphasizes Roberta Marchesi, Executive Director of the National Association of Passenger Rail Operators, an entity that brings together Brazilian operators.
The new framework presents principles, guidelines, objectives and definitions on collective public transport, in addition to the organization and financing of transport services and aspects of the operation, such as hiring operators and their economic-financial regime. The debate on the document began in 2020.
Contributions to the bill can be submitted until January 26, 2023, directly on the website Participa +Brasil – www.gov.br/participamaisbrasil/marco-legal-transporte-publico-coletivo .
