Juscelino Kubitschek and Padre Cícero stations, on the South Line of the Fortaleza Metro, in Ceará, will receive plates for the generation of photovoltaic energy. The service order for the acquisition, assembly and installation of the equipment was signed in early February. The R $ 1.6 million project will be carried out by the Consortium Solar-For, formed by the companies MPE Engenharia e Serviços S/A and Sunpasa Comércio e Serviços em Energia Solar Ltda.

According to the contract, 650 solar panels will be installed at Juscelino Kubitschek Station and another 325 at Padre Cícero Station. The installation term is 6 months, with 6 more months for assisted operation, a testing period in which the necessary adjustments will be made. After the implementation of the systems, the surplus energy generated at the stations will be transferred to the distribution network in Fortaleza, and then reverted to the Metro, as a credit in electricity production, which will imply compensations in the company’s energy bills. The estimate is that the amount of solar energy produced at the two stations will supply the electrical demand of at least four stations on the South Line.
