The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Group, through its branch dedicated to the private sector, IDB Invest, and the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) announce a partnership for the creation of an infrastructure credit fund up to US $ 1.5 billion. The fund initially called “B2 Infra” may have a participation of about 30% of BNDES funds, 10% of IDB Invest and the rest will be raised from the private sector, especially from institutional investors.
B2 Infra’s focus is to invest in debt instruments in the transportation, energy, water and sanitation and social infrastructure sectors, such as health and education. Soon, the institutions will announce the structure of the fund, according to the rules of BNDES Credit Funds. The product is expected to start operating in the second half of this year.
