Brazil launches program for renewal of the railroad fleet

The Brazilian Ministry of Regional Development launched the Renewal of Urban Public Passenger Rail Transportation Fleet Renewal (RETREM) program, in a ceremony held in the city of São Paulo. The vice presidents of National Association of Passenger Rail Operators (ANPTrilhos), João Gouveia Ferrão Neto and José Cláudio Sicco attended the ceremony.

The objective of the program is to improve the service offered on rail transport systems through financing the acquisition of rolling stock by public and private sector providers. Funding proposals will be submitted under the Transport Infrastructure and Urban Mobility Program (Pro-Transport).

The normative instruction with the procedure for the selection of credit operation proposals for the Program was published in the Federal Official Gazette on July 1, 2019.
