Government of Bahia delays bidding of Light Rail Vehicle for August 28th

The bidding for the implementation and operation of the Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) of the suburbs of Salvador city, in Bahia, has been delayed. Initially, the opening of the proposals was placed on June 30th and it has been altered for August 28th, from 12pm to 2pm, at the headquarters of BM&FBovespa, in São Paulo city.

The additional time was requested by around 40 representatives of organizations interested on the concession of the new means of transportation. The request was made during the presentation of the operational, financial and feasibility project of the LRV, in the beginning of June in Salvador.

The LRV, which will substitute Trem do Subúrbio, will be approximately 19 kilometres long and will have 21 stops, connecting the Comércio region to Paripe, going through the route from one extremity to the other in 40 minutes.

RESOURCES

The modal already have resources granted for the execution of the entire project. Through a public calling, the choosing of a funder company for the system has already been made, at conditions established by Empresa Baiana de Ativos (Bahiainveste). The financier agent selected was the English Fund Indico PLC, which has firmed a compromise of financing R$1.5 billion.

The bidding for the LRV has been open since the beginning of May through public competition aiming at selecting the best proposal for a Public-Private Partnership contract (PPP)
